How we track it
How every record gets entered.
Six rules. If a fact can’t meet them, it stays off the map until it can.
- 01
Records link their source.
1,498 of 1,519 projects link the document they came from. We add a link to the rest when we find one.
- 02
Online dates are the developer’s, not ours.
We record the target as reported, in the source’s words. No estimated energization dates, no countdowns.
- 03
Three kinds of megawatts, never mixed.
IT load, gross capacity and secured power are separate fields. Secured means a signed agreement. Backup generators are logged but never counted as supply.
- 04
A hollow ring means we don’t know the site.
When only the town or county is known, the pin sits at its center as a hollow ring. A solid pin means we have a street address or parcel.
- 05
Withdrawn projects stay on file.
Cancelled and on-hold projects stay in the record, with the update that ended them where we have it. A dead site is still a market signal.
- 06
Local measures carry their dates.
Each moratorium or rule is entered with the date it took effect and the date it ends, where the measure sets one. One that passes its end date goes back on our list to check: expired, extended or replaced.
